With the young shrikes still clumsy, they are particularly easy to spot. Individuals are generally observed on top of a fence post or perched on the tip of a hedge. Sometimes it may also be possible to find its prey, bumblebees or small mice, speared to the spikes of barbed wires.<!--more--> It seems to be a good year for this species, with a high number of warm and sunny days. Most observations from last season have been confirmed.
